The Story
Tessa has been teaching for six years, primarily in kindergarten, where she discovered her passion for early literacy and teaching children how to read. She earned her degree in education from Arizona State University and is a proud Sun Devil. Supporting young learners as they build confidence and strong foundational reading skills is at the heart of her work. She currently teaches at a gifted school and has experience delivering social-emotional lessons that support the whole child, both academically and emotionally. She is LETRS-trained and deeply committed to using research-based practices to help every child feel successful, confident, and empowered as a reader.
Outside the classroom, she loves to read, bake—especially when trying new recipes—and care for her many plants. She is a cheer coach and also teaches a robotics club, blending movement, teamwork, and problem-solving into learning. She enjoys traveling and exploring new places, once biked 26 miles in a single ride, and is often found singing—whether in the car, to help remember things, or simply to fill the silence.
